  • Schools Overview

At Honeytots we run four dedicated schooling programs

We run programs that help our youngest students develop language and social skills, coordination and cognitive learning. Children in their preschool years engage in hands-on learning and explore the world with all their senses as they build a strong foundation for success in school and beyond.

Our Primary students take advantage of challenging academics and an integrated curriculum to problem solve, work collaboratively, and pursue personal interests. The result is a highly engaged student who loves school.

  • Our Curriculum

Set up to support ways in which young children learn best

Our curriculum is broad based, fun filled and challenging, giving opportunity to develop in all areas. It falls within the purview of the six areas of learning according to the British standards with the Nigeria curriculum embedded in it.

Our unique curriculum identifies the different learning styles, paying attention to the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of the child.

  • The toddler curriculum enables your child to grow in confidence and leam to walk tall in his new world. From first steps to first words, your toddler will begin to experience the world in new ways. Group games provide your toddler with a sense of identity and his place in the broader world.

We provide child-directed activities such as art and sensory time. Potty training is of essence at this time. Toddlers are helped to adjust to transitions between activities throughout the day, and accommodate individual differences and developmental abilities. Because toddlers are gaining independence, we support their desires to learn to feed themselves, fostering self-help skills.

Socially the toddlers imitate and respond to the words and actions of others, identify and name familiar items, engage in conversations using pictures and puppets, follow simple directions and ask questions. Emotionally they learn to understand and express emotions appropriately, develop strong listening skills through storytelling and interact with peers in a group setting.

Physically, they learn about body parts through songs and rhymes. They crawl, jump, and, kick and toss. They gain enhanced eye-hand coordination through writing, drawing, and lacing shoes. Intellectually, they learn and respond to their own names, identify and sort basic colours, shapes, engage in some number activities, learn cause and effect through trial and error.

Our Toddler Room Activities Programme is based on knowledge that supported play is the pathway to child development and learning. We offer a varied, fun filled, child responsive daily activity programme.

We aim to excite your child’s curiosity and to engage him or her in activities that inform and influence development and learning.

Nursery schooling being a child’s first experience in the formal schooling can be an anxious time for both children and parents that is why we have taken special care to create a warm, welcoming and cheerful environment, in which children feel secure and happy.

Our curriculum is a combination of the Nigerian and British National curriculum modified to suit our local circumstance. It is rich in activities that aim to consolidate all learning experience. Notably we have a very successful Montessori and phonics program that has contributed immensely to the children’s ability to achieve good reading skills.

The following subjects are taught in the nursery department.

    • Numeracy
    • Literacy
    • Shapes and Colours
    • Personal, Social and Emotional development (PSED)
    • Knowledge and Understanding of the world
    • Growing with Jesus

The pupils in this section are taught using Nigerian and British National curriculum as our framework. The integration of both curriculums has been an innovative experience for both staff and pupils.

We have recorded great learning experiences in

    • Science
    • Mathematics
    • Mental reasoning
    • Reading
    • Vocabulary
    • Creative writing and communicative skills

Pupils in the primary are prepared for competitive secondary schools home and abroad.
